HOKE COUNTY- A Hoke County sheriff was named the head of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association Friday.
Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said he plans on using his new position to better the relationship between law enforcement and the community
He also said building a strong relationship with the people he serves is what makes him passionate about his career.
"I've always wanted to be a law enforcement officer,” Peterkin said. “I want to help people, I want to serve people, ever since I learned about Batman and Robin and all those guys."
Sheriff Peterkin has been in law enforcement for nearly 30 years and has been Hoke county sheriff for 13 years.
