DURHAM -- The Durham Performing Arts Center is gearing up to celebrate 10 years in the Bull City, and they have a lot to celebrate heading into 2018.

In 2017, the theatre hosted a record number of sellout events, ranking them among the top theaters in the country. Pollstar, Billboard and Venues Today all placed DPAC among the top U.S. venues of its size and type. The center says last year they entertained 462,055 guests and featured 211 events, 113 that sold out.

Spectrum News Anchor Caroline Blair made her way to the performing arts center for a special look inside what makes the space so special.

From Broadway productions like "The King & I" and "Finding Neverland," to musical performances by Bon Iver and Tony Bennett, the center was able to bring in big crowds. And they continued filling seats with their comedy acts like Steve Martin and Martin Short, and Chris Rock and Adam Sandler.

If 2017 wasn't enough, many people are already looking ahead to 2018 where the DPAC will entertain big name acts like The Temptations and The Four Tops, and shows "Les Miserables" and "The Sound of Music." But nothing has fans more excited than the 2018-2019 Broadway series, where "Hamilton" is expected to sell out night after night.
