It's summertime in North Carolina, so the heat and storms are all too familiar. But today, you should pay extra attention to the weather.

What You Need To Know

  • A Heat Advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m. and continues through 7 p.m.

  • It could feel as hot as 105-108 degrees

  • We also have a 1/5 risk for severe thunderstorms

Today is the third day in a row we've had feels like temperatures in the triple digits. The heat can really take a toll on you day after day, so continue to stay hydrated, take breaks inside in the air conditioning or limit time outdoors altogether.

Our first Heat Advisory of the season goes into effect at 11 a.m. and continues until 7 p.m.

Remember, more people die from heat-related illnesses each year than any other type of weather.

The heat isn't the only dangerous type of weather we are expecting today. We have a 1/5 risk for severe thunderstorms today.

While the chance of storms is generally low, the ones that develop could pack a punch, with heavy rain, frequent lightning and the potential for damaging wind.

The storms should pop up during the later afternoon and evening hours before quieting down overnight.
