Make preparations to protect your plants Saturday night into Sunday morning.  Freezing temperatures are likely during that time for almost all of North Carolina.  Many locations with the exception of the state's beaches will spend at least a few hours at or below freezing.

While it will be a sunny weekend, freezing temperatures are not the only weather concern.  As the colder air arrives in the state, it will become quite windy during the day Saturday.  Wind gusts of up to 40mph are possible.  The wind should begin to die down Saturday night as temperatures drop below freezing.

The state's mountains will also see some snow Saturday.  Light accumulations are expected in the highest elevations of western North Carolina.

Milder temperatures that are more typical for April will return early next week.
