The MTA has announced the second of two public meetings to discuss an extended shutdown of part of the L train for repair work.
The second meeting is set for Thursday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Theater, located at 120 West 14th Street in Greenwich Village.
The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.m. It will take place at the Marcy Avenue Armory in Williamsburg.
Transit officials say the Canarsie Tube, which carries the L train between Manhattan and Brooklyn, was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
The MTA is considering a 24/7 shutdown of the tunnel while crews make repairs, and that could happen as early as 2019, but straphangers and business owners along the busy route are concerned about the effects of the service disruption.
Back in January, a town hall meeting held by the MTA got heated when riders vented over the problems that a full-time shutdown would cause.
