BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The law firm Cellino & Barnes, where a reported rift between its well-known partners surfaced this week, will continue on regardless of what happens in court.
A statement Thursday from Cellino & Barnes spoke for Stephen Barnes and reads:
"Mr. Barnes and the firm plan to aggressively oppose the dissolution papers filed by Mr. Cellino; however, we reiterate that regardless of outcome, the firm will continue to do business in the many markets we serve."
Legal documents were filed Wednesday in State Supreme Court by Ross Cellino against Barnes, the personal injury firm's other partner.
Barnes has been asked to appear in court on May 19 to show why the law firm should not dissolve. The case's petition, as well as other documents, appear to have been sealed by the court, according to a state website.
The firm stated that its 300 employees will continue to work and take on new clients. The firm also reaffirmed it will not comment on ongoing litigation.
Both Cellino and Barnes are near-universally known across New York state, both for their ubiquitous TV commercials and phone-number jingle. Cellino & Barnes also has offices in New York City, Long Island, Oakland, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
