LOS ANGELES — The community around Norwood Street Elementary School held an event calling attention to broken and hazardous sidewalks by placing QR-coded adhesive bandages to sidewalk “ouchies.”
Longtime residents of the area say the sidewalks have been in poor condition for decades despite calls for repair.
Los Angeles City Council member Eunisses Hernandez said the sidewalk repair system needs an overhaul to address the problem, which has not been a priority for the city despite millions paid out to settle injury claims related to hazardous sidewalks.
The public can report broken sidewalk spots using the MyLA311 reporting app.
