AUSTIN, Texas — Innovation is making its way to a beloved Texas-based grocery. H-E-B is set to introduce automated grocery deliveries using robots.

The San Antonio, Texas based grocery chain has introduced robots to their curbside pickup and delivery business, according to a report from the Houston Chron.

Seen lined up at the Mueller location were robots on wheels decorated with red flags and friendly triangle eyes. Just above the robots was a banner indicating that shoppers can get up to 10 small items delivered by one of the robots using the Favor app.

The service is available only in the Mueller neighborhood for now, according to the Chron report, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The robotic helpers are also adorned with signs reading “Avride autonomous delivery robot," an indication that the Austin-based company, Avride, has partnered with H-E-B to make the new automated curbside service possible.

The courier robots have a service radius of approximately one mile and move at speeds of about three to five miles per hour.
