On Monday, Spectrum presented a $7,500 check to Love Chatham, a nonprofit working to end homelessness in Chatham County.
The Spectrum Employee Committee Grant was awarded in Pittsboro at Love Chatham’s second transitional housing location site, which was also a framing dedication for the new spot. Leaders from Spectrum, Love Chatham, the Chatham County Community and N.C. Rep. Robert Reives gathered for the presentation and dedication.
"So a place like this helps teach people computer skills. It helps give them somewhere to live, to settle, more to get started again. And then what that does is send better community members out. And when I say better community members, community members who have the opportunity to contribute. And so it's a win-win for everybody," Reives said.
At the event, guests got a tour of the new facility and learned about Love Chatham’s work to support homeless people in Chatham County. They also took a moment to sign inspirational messages on the framework, ensuring hope and love are always in the walls of the shelter.
Spectrum presented the $7,500 donation as well as 10 refurbished laptop computers, which will allow Love Chatham to open a digital learning lab on-site, ensuring residents have the access to technology they need to advance their lives and improve independence. Spectrum also donated toiletry bags for residents.
Spectrum employee Jen Colon nominated the organization for the SECG grant.
