Marshall Beach has lived on Cave Mill Road for over five years. Beach said he never expected to deal with disasters like this. Floodwaters seeped into Beach’s house, destroying his tools, flooring and other materials inside his home. Beach said the damages total up to $35,000.

“When you walk across it, you basically feel the warpness of it. There’s not a whole lot I can do about it, other than tear it out and replace it,” Beach said.

The flooding also destroyed generators that power his food truck business, Hog Wild BBQ.

“You’re talking thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars,” Beach said.

Without his generators, Beach cannot do business in many locations.

“I work out of my concession trailer for four or five days a week. It’s really took a toll on me regarding money coming in,” Beach said.

Beach doesn’t have flood insurance, so he’s covering costs out-of-pocket or through GoFundMe donations.

“We’re just taking it day by day. I’ve got good friends who have donated money to us,” Beach said.

For now, Beach said he is continuing cleanup and recovery efforts as he hopes for a better day.
