BOYLSTON, Mass. – Police are investigating what the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office has said appears to be a deadly shooting involving a police officer in Boylston.

The office said Wednesday afternoon that there is no threat to the general public. Earlier in the day, the Boylston Police Department had warned the public about a man in his 20s who fled on foot near Central Street and French Drive.

At the time, police warned the man should be considered armed and dangerous. Shortly after, the department said while there was still an active crime scene, there was no longer any threats to the public.

Ambulances could be seen entering and exiting French Drive late Wednesday morning, as well as officers with various departments from surrounding towns.

The situation is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. No further information was available as of Wednesday evening.
