COLUMBIA, S.C. — On Wednesday, Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Eunice Medina as Director of the Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) during a State House press conference.
Medina joined SCDHHS in 2021 and served as the chief of staff and deputy director of programs alongside former director, Rober Kerr.
Kerr retired earlier this month after more than three years in the role.
“She has been at his [Robert Kerr] right hand in making great progress for which we are very thankful,” said McMaster. “And we are delighted that she has agreed to accept this challenge, this responsibility.”
According to Medina’s professional biography, she has extensive health care experience including more than 18 years of experience working in Medicaid policy.
Before serving in the Palmetto State, she served as the bureau chief of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration’s Bureau of Medicaid Plan Management Operations.
