RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes announced Tuesday morning they are promoting Eric Tulsky from Interim General Manager to General Manager, according to a social media post by the franchise.

Tulsky is the tenth general manager in franchise history. He's spent 10 years with the Canes, serving many roles like analyst and Vice President of Hockey Management and Strategy.

The Philadelphia native has a bachelor’s in chemistry and physics from Harvard and a Ph.D. in chemistry from U.C. Berkeley, according to the franchise's release.

"Everything we do here is collaborative, and Eric will work closely with Darren Yorke, Rod Brind’Amour and our leadership team to continue building a championship-caliber hockey club,” Canes owner Tom Dundon said.

The announcement comes after former president and GM Don Waddell stepped down in late May. Waddell spent 10 years with the Canes after joining as president in July 2014, and named general manager in May 2018.

The franchise did not say who their next president will be in the release, indicating the search is ongoing.
