ALLEN, Texas — A community gathering will be held to in honor of the victims and survivors of the Allen outlet mall shooting on May 6, 2023.
The remembrance event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6 at Credit Union of Texas Event Center, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The program will include performances from the Allen High School choir and Allen Philharmonic Orchestra, along with a time of interfaith reflection.
The remembrance event will be free and open to the public, no tickets required. Attendees must abide by the facility’s prohibited items and clear bag policies available for review at CUTXEventCenter.com.
A citywide moment of silence will be observed in Allen at 3:36 p.m. on Monday, May 6.
The work performed by the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra, In Lumine, was specially commissioned by the community orchestra as a tribute to the eight individuals who lost their lives. They are represented by eight soloists in the orchestra who appear throughout the work.
The work is composed by Lane Harder, senior lecturer and co-chair of music theory and composition at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts.
