ROCKWELL, N.C. — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says two officers and a firefighter are recovering after being shot during a fire call overnight Friday.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said fire crews responded to a fire call at 520 Mahaffey Drive and found a mobile home burning.
A person was reported as being in the back of the home. When firefighters located the person, officials said they were armed and fired shots.
The sheriff’s office said two law enforcement officers and a firefighter were injured in the shooting, but their injuries are non-life threatening.
The suspect was killed during the incident.
The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation is helping with the investigation.
