ASHEBORO, N.C. — One Asheboro man has been turning his front yard into a spooky spectacle for the last 20 years. Clowns, witches and zombies can be seen all over his front yard and even on his roof.

No questions asked, Darrin Carter's favorite holiday is Halloween. Every year he spends countless hours and even days decorating his home.

  • This is the most he's ever spent on decorations and his biggest display yet

  • He invites the public to come out and enjoy the decorations on Halloween night

While last year he was worried he wouldn't have his usual turnout due to the pandemic, he still had an incredible crowd outside his home. This year, he's expecting even more, especially since this is his biggest display yet.

Carter told us, he did start decorating later than usual this year, but once he started putting up decorations, the neighbors were already started to get excited for what he has in store for this Halloween.

“They stop and ask me when are you going to get done? When are you going to get done? I’m doing it as fast as I can go because it’s a lot to do, it’s a lot of work. People don’t realize. If you don’t love this, you ain’t going to want do it because it’s a lot of work," Carter said.

He says he has a bunch of new animatronics to display and this is the most he's ever spent on decorations.

“A lot of this stuff I’ve had for years and years. So, I like changing it up every year and buy something different, you know getting new stuff because people don’t want to see the same thing over and over again," Carter said.

He invites people to come by on Halloween night to see the decorations once they're completed. You can find his home at 1645 Keyauee Dr. Asheboro, NC 27205. Carter told us it's completely free to the public.
