RALEIGH, N.C. — This Women's History Month marks 101 years since the ratification of the 19th amendment, which granted women in the United States the right to vote.

But not all women were granted equal opportunities, and the fight for equality in North Carolina wasn't always pretty. Spectrum News 1 anchor Caroline Blair visited the North Carolina Museum of History a year after it opened the You Have To Start a Thing exhibit, for a look how we can look at the past to create a brighter future for all.

Exactly 10 days after the museum's exhibit opened in 2020, it was forced to shut its doors. But now, it is open again and will continue to keep the exhibit in place for the public to view through August 8, 2021.

If you would like to see the exhibit in person, visit the mueum's website for more information.
