NEW YORK - Polls are now open in parts of the Bronx, as early voting gets underway for a special City Council election.
It's to replace Andy King in City Council District 12, which covers parts of the northeastern section of the borough.
King was ousted earlier this year over repeated ethics violations. That moved up the timeline for the election originally set for 2021.
The candidates in the special election are Pamela Hamilton-Johnson, who is the president of the 47th Precinct Council and a Community Board member; Neville Mitchell, a public defender with the Legal Aid Society, and Kevin Riley, community relations director for Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Early voting runs through next Sunday, December 20th.
Election Day is Tuesday, the 22nd.
