The town of Camillus is making changes to its two fire districts. For neighbors, that means you might be paying more or less for fire protection, depending on where you live.

Both Fairmount and Camillus fire departments serve the Camillus area, each handling different parts.

Wednesday night, the town board voted to change their boundaries slightly. The move is based on response times, and it evens out the tax rate for neighbors. 

As a result, Camillus residents will pay slightly more and Fairmount residents slightly less. Opponents felt the town moved too quickly and wanted to study the issue for another year.
