Justin Thomas, director of bands at Western Guilford Middle School, said he never thought he would be teaching virtually this long.

"I was just like, 'The pandemic is going to be over in two weeks, we're coming back to work.' Then after those two weeks I was like, 'Ok, the pandemic is not ending. We're going to be here for some time," he said.

He said he has been telling his students to take it one step at a time.

"I always remind them that we've never done this before. We are all learning as we go and that patience and flexibility is key," Thomas added.
