WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A local man has started a fitness business following his experience struggling with his own personal fitness goals.
Williams Attkisson enjoyed spending time in the gym before a car accident in 2003 changed his life.
The accident put him in a coma for a month, destroying much of the progress he’d made toward his fitness goals.
“I lost 100 pounds in the hospital, and I could barely use my arms, I could barely get up and touch anything,” said Attkisson. “I could sit up for about 5 minutes before falling over . It was very difficult and getting back to the gym, working again, being outside, and working and, camping again like I like to do; those were all my goals but it took a long time to get there.”
It was this that inspired Attkisson to help others.
He started a new mobile fitness unit called GYMGUYZ, where personal trainers visit clients with equipment in a van to help them achieve their goals.
GYMGUYZ has trainers in the Triad, Triangle, and Charlotte areas.
