Jabari Reed-Diop, also known as iBOMS, said it took five days to create the mural, which depicts a character with a globe as his head putting his mail-in ballot in a mailbox. The mural is painted on the walls of the Enoch Davis Center in St. Pete.

“It’s amazing, because I see a lot of murals in St. Pete, but every time that I come over to the south side, it’s just pale walls," Reed-Diop explained. "It’s just amazing that I can bring my art and put it on the walls I wish art was on normally.”

The League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area commissioned the mural as part of a multi-prong campaign aimed at making sure people, especially those in communities with lower voter turnout, get out to vote or vote by mail if they can't vote in person.

They also wanted a muralist from this community to paint a message for this community.

“We were prevented from doing out usual events out in the community, and so we needed to make some sort of bold, visual statement that would attract people’s attention to the voting by mail this season," said League of Women voters voter registration team lead Maryellen Gordon. "And I thought 'why not do a mural because St. Pete is know for its awesome murals?'”
