WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A long-time Winston-Salem resident and musician is doing what he can to help senior citizens across the country reduce stress and anxiety during the pandemic.

What You Need To Know

  • Dave Combs is using his musical talent to help bring a sense of positivity to seniors through the COVID-19 pandemic

  • His parents were one of his biggest influences when it came to music

  • Combs contacted 70 long-term care associations in all 50 states as well as a couple of national associations

Dave Combs personally called more than 200 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in North Carolina and sent each of them access to his music videos.

“I knew that my music was always very soothing and relaxing because my mother, who passed away a couple years ago, was in a nursing home here in Winston-Salem, Arbor Acres, and I know how much the music administered helped those residents where she was staying," Combs says.

His parents were one of his biggest influences when it came to music. He has been playing for as long as he can remember.

“It’s really affirming to know that what I’ve created and what’s been given to me as a gift is being able to be used and appreciated," Combs explains.

The positive response was so well received Combs decided to offer his music videos all around  the country. He contacted 70 long-term care associations in all 50 states, as well as a couple of national associations. Residents, like Sarah Long at Arbor Acres Retirement Community, love it.

“Well I just find in my age and time it’s very relaxing, it’s very soothing, and I’ve always loved music and have been into music, singing it or playing to all the time,” Long says.

That is the reason why Combs continues to play his keys. If you're interested in watching his videos you can visit his YouTube channel.
