Now, some bowling centers in North Carolina are pushing the state to let them reopen in a Change.org petition. As of Thursday evening, more than 1,600 people had signed it.

"We don't know what else to do to get heard,” Northside Lanes co-owner Tabitha Golding says. “We're meeting the restrictions far above what most retail stores are having to do now, even the barbershops and salons and things of that nature. We're surpassing all of those expectations, but not given a chance."

When announcing who was included in Phase 2, the governor cited a need to prevent spikes in infection and a reliance on health data in making his decision.

Northside Lanes said it has done extensive cleaning, sanitizing, and even remodeling to keep people safe.
