YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. – This is the fifth growing season for Autumn Hunter and her husband. The two own Hunter Farms Family Produce, and they aren't slowing down because of COVID-19.

The couple has turned to technology to help them connect with customers in the state, and they jumped at the chance to join the Visit NC Farms app.

“I think it’s people that wouldn’t really generally go local. They’ve downloaded the app just to see what we’re talking about, and then you know they start getting push notifications," Hunter said.

The app lists local farms and allows them to send out notifications when they have product in stock. This is helping them sell out of product even quicker.

Hunter thinks people are also more interested in local products during the stay-at-home order.

"I actually had a woman from Raleigh called me last week and say that she had just received a notification from Visit NC Farms app and was interested in our produce boxes.”

She says she knows people are on their phones all the time, so that's where they'll continue to meet them.

“It pays to be our age, because we know what people our age and younger even are doing and where they’re looking and how to find them,” Hunter adds.
