NORTH CAROLINA -- This is supposed to be the busy time for Joey Medaloni and Medaloni Cellars.

"Right now we would be doing lots of music on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons," he says. "There'd probably be a couple thousand people a week coming through our doors but right now it is zero."

With people staying home, the foot traffic that makes up about 98 percent of the winery's business is almost non-existent.

All the weddings the winery had scheduled have also been pushed back.

"We're doing a lot of to-go's and deliveries for wine. We do a lot of Zoom calls once a week with the groups that come out to pick up the wine. We even do little virtual tasting with them at their house," Medaloni says.

According to him, all the wineries are being hurt and the restaurants aren't seeing the usual tourist business.

Medaloni says their current customers are keeping them going for now, one bottle at a time.

"Order some local wine from you local wineries or wine shops, because the big commercial guys are doing just fine with other products," he says.
