BURLINGTON, N.C. — LabCorp, Alamance County’s largest employer, announced Tuesday that it has received an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA for at-home coronavirus tests.
The kits use nasal samples to detect the virus.
They will be offered through the company’s Pixel by LabCorp platform and initially be made available to healthcare workers and first responders who may have been exposed to the virus. Tests will then presumptively be made available to individuals at the recommendation of their physician, after completing a questionnaire.
It is important to note that the FDA has not approved the tests, but it is authorizing them for use.
