WAKE COUNTY, N.C. - Pregnancy amidst a pandemic is the reality for women and expecting parents across the world.

As the CDC continues to update doctors taking care of pregnant women, so far, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be passed from mom to baby in the placenta.

Raleigh OB/GYN Centre Dr. Jennifer Briscoe says pregnant women, like everyone else, need to practice social distancing.

“If moms are under investigation or known to be positive, we separate moms from babies unfortunately, but moms can still pump breast milk and we recommend that they do so they can feed their babies breast milk," said Briscoe.

The CDC says it does not currently know if pregnant women have a higher risk of getting sick from COVID-19.
