GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A well-known, crowd-sourced review forum named a Greensboro restaurant one of the best places to eat in the country.

Chez Genese in Downtown Greensboro has only been open for a little over a year. The fairly new restaurant earned a spot on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. for 2020. Regular customers like, Susan McMullen, said this was well deserved.

"It's incredible, you know how restaurants fail constantly everyday, they've done it perfectly," McMullen said.

The restaurant is not only well reviewed for it's delicious food, but for it's community as well. Chez Genese hires people with physical and intellectual disabilities, like Bridgette Lucas. Lucas has Asperger syndrome and a rare eye disorder called Aniridia.

"We have people who have autism, we have people who have ADHD, we have people who are deaf and we all work here together to get a new start, as well as get the skills we need for the workforce," Lucas said.

This gives people with disabilities an opportunity to work a good job that pays above minimum wage.

"As people with disabilities, we can definitely do more than people give us credit for and we want to do more, we want to be a part of the world people have created, thrive it in as well as make it better," Lucas explained.

Yelp's data science team pulled the top restaurants by ratings and number of reviews in 2019, with representation based on each place's share of top rated restaurants nationally.
