TAMPA, Fla. — A pedestrian was hit and killed on Bayshore Boulevard at W Julia Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The Tampa Police Department said the incident is being investigated as a DUI traffic fatality.
The crash has shut down northbound lanes of Bayshore Boulevard.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was taken to Tampa General Hospital and that charges are pending.
The pedestrian was jogging when he was hit, according to investigators. Due to Marsy's Law, the jogger's name will not be released.
No other information has been released at this time.
Speeding has been a problem on Bayshore Blvd. and the speed limit was reduced in May of 2018 after a 24-year-old mother was hit and killed while pushing her child in a stroller across the street.
The 21-month-old child was injured and died the following day. Three people were charged with drag racing in the deadly crash.
