NORTH CAROLINA – New Year’s Eve is considered the most dangerous night of the year for driving according to law enforcement.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol encourages people to find a designated driver, or plan to use a taxi or rideshare service.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving, or “MADD”, wants drivers to understand that impaired driving puts more than just the driver in danger.
"It creates a ripple effect throughout the community when one person is impacted by impaired driving crash. Their family, their friends, their coworkers are impacted as well," MAAD worker Callie Ramsay said.
According to MADD, between the evening of December 31, 2017 and the morning of January 1, 2018, more than 58 people died in alcohol-related crashes in North Carolina.
