GREENSBORO, N.C.-    United Airlines unveiled its new regional jet at PTI Friday.

The new jet is the first of its kind and features a first class cabin.

"It allows customers in a community like Greensboro to connect to Chicago and move on to Tokyo or on to London and fly in a first class product the entire way," Mark Krolick with United Airlines said.

The airline said the new jet features other amenities like more leg room, additional food and beverage options, and more overhead space.

The Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad Internation Airport Authority said that will be a big draw for travelers.

"It prevents a lot of gate checking for bags of passengers, which a lot of business travelers will really like -- the fact that they can get those bags onto the plane and not have to worry about gate checking them," Kevin Baker said.

United Airlines said the airline will not increase the price for this jet.

By April of 2020 all United Airlines flights leaving PTI for Chicago O'Hare and Newark will be aboard the new aircraft. There will be a total of eight of those flights leaving Greensboro each day.
