GREENSBORO, N.C.-- On Monday night, Greensboro Zoning Commission members unanimously voted to approve the Julian Price House zoning permit. It will now become a bed and breakfast.
- The historic 1920's home on fisher park circle has 31 rooms.
- While it may look luxurious now, it was featured on the TV show Hoarders in 2017.
- The new owners renovated it, and now they're preparing to open it to paying customers.
"They are legally able to do a tourist home bed and breakfast at that property,” said Mike Kirkman, the City of Greensboro’s Zoning Administrator. “There are also some development standards in the ordinance on there that limits total number of bedrooms and requires the owner to be at the property, at least as far as a principal resident. Some things like that."
The owners had to go through a lot of red tape. Originally, commissioners voted "no" on the property permit. But after an appeal, a judge ordered them to vote yes.
"The superior court heard that appeal, and made the determination that there wasn't substantial compelling evidence to oppose the issuance of that special use permit,” Kirkman said.
The owner was at the meeting, but he denied our interview request.
