Noah Chambers was trunk-or-treating at Bethel United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge Friday, when he was hit by a car. Noah died two days after the accident at Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Friends of his father, Stephanie and Jessica Mabe were devastated to hear the news.
"I was up all night, it was just awful, it was just no this is not happening," Stephanie said.
"I cried the whole day Saturday, like I was cleaning and just tears were rolling down my face because I just couldn't believe it," Jessica said.
Stephanie is the co-owner of Beauty & Beast LLC Salon and Fitness, she and her daughter Jessica are planning a fundraiser in Noah's name. They said the community is coming together to help raise money for medical bills and funeral services for his family.
"The amount of support the community and beyond there are people, gosh we had somebody contact us from Canada that are reaching out for Noah," Stephanie said.
Noah's father, Robert, was a personal trainer at their gym and would bring Noah along with him from the time he was a little boy. Stephanie said the gym was their second home.
"He would go in and train with his daddy some in the gym and you know want to be like his daddy, there was a lot of standing in the mirror, a lot of flexing," Stephanie explained.
"I can only imagine just knowing and seeing the relationship that Robert and Noah had in here, it just broke my heart," Jessica said.
They said he will never be forgotten, and will always be a little part of the gym and in their hearts.
"We're planning to actually put the picture that we have of him and his daddy in the gym flexing together, we're going to make a little memorial in the gym to always have Noah's face in our gym," Stephanie said.
Their fundraiser is this Saturday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. at The Refuge church in Mayodan. There will be music, superhero's, face painting, Sliders food truck, raffle baskets and more.
