Carter Brothers been a staple in the High Point community and is closing their N. Main street location. Loyal customers like, Christoper Williams, have been coming to the restaurant since its opening in 1997.

"It's not only a staple, it's a cornerstone and it'll be deeply missed, they can put whatever building they want to here but it'll always be Carters barbecue regardless. It doesn't matter," Williams said.

Williams said he has formed a strong relationship with the owners family.

"My family eats here, my family ate at his location in Archdale when he was in Archdale and all the boys were still alive, the brothers and stuff, when his mom was still around, so I was here the entire time, I saw it all," Williams explained.

Schneider told us, people love this restaurant because there's just no other place like it.

"It's just a family place, everybody's nice and welcoming and we're familiar with it and when we lived up north for a while we really missed it," Schneider said.

Owner Tim Carter had to come to terms with after accepting an offer for the property. He said the restaurant needed a whole new kitchen that would be a huge financial undertaking.

"This building is just so old, so tired and I'm getting older and tired, that I don't have the energy to knock it down and rebuild," Carter said.

Tim says both he and his and wife are having a hard time letting it go, but know it's the right thing to do.

"She just cried and cried and cried, you know I didn't let her see me cry but, this is my baby," Carter said.

The location on Samet Dr. will still be open.

"I'm not going anywhere unless all my customers don't come with me, and listen I know where ya'll live a lot of you, so I'll come and get you, I'm telling you!" Carter said.

The location on North Main St. with be closing this Saturday.
