DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting involving a Davidson County deputy Friday morning.

It happened on Pinehave Drive, near High Rock Lake, south of Lexington. Deputies responded to a domestic call around 7 a.m. involving a father and son.

The sheriff's office says a deputy feared for his life and shots were fired. One of the men was wounded in the shoulder and airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Nearby Central Davidson middle and high schools were placed on lockdown.

Neighbors in the Silver Hill community near where the shooting happened say they avoid the house because of suspicious activity.
