Part of the roof of the building where the nonprofit St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory operates was destroyed and water got inside the studio. The founders, dancers and their families quickly worked to remove the flooring to salvage it.

“Water was coming [in], everything came down, and I couldn’t do anything. All I could do was watch," said Servy Gallardo, the artistic director at the studio.

The roof has since been repaired, and crews are working to fix the ceiling.

Costumes are wet, but they were saved, along with the curtains and chairs. On Tuesday, everything was drying out inside, while the other studio was used for dance practice.

This Friday, the studio is having a show. It will be held in the studio that was undamaged, rather than the two combined.

“A reward is to see these kids happy and we are achieving the goal by seeing that. It makes it worth everything that happened, and we'll build it back."

“We’re very excited about getting it back," he added. "I just want to put it back for these kids."

The nonprofit hopes the community will donate some funds to help them rebuild. A fundraising campaign has been shared on the organization's social media account.

The show is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.
