NORTH CAROLINA -- A new study from Trust for America’s Health and Well Being Trust is revealing a disturbing trend for the country's millennial generation.
- Drug related deaths for those 18 to 34 are up by 108 percent from 2007 to 2017
- The rate of suicides among the same demographic increased by 35 percent
- Alcohol related deaths among those 18 to 34 increased in the decade between 2007 and 2017, going up 69 percent
According to the study, deaths from drug misuse and suicide are on the rise.
Drug related deaths for those 18 to 34 are up by 108 percent from 2007 to 2017. According to the study, a huge part of the increase in drug-related deaths involves synthetic opioids.
Between 2007 and 2017, the rate of suicides among the same demographic increased by 35 percent.
Alcohol related deaths among those 18 to 34 also showed an increase in the decade between 2007 and 2017, going up 69 percent.
So, what is bringing upon these trends? The study points toward several elevated risk factors for Millennials and them being less likely to live in supportive environments.
