Eric and Traci Rankins, are the owners of Easy Peasy Decadent Desserts in Greensboro. Little did they know a call from the Food Network would change their lives. They were asked to compete in an elimination style baking competition.

"I never in a million years thought that I would do something like this. I am not a very competitive person, so for me to do something like this was kind of stepping way out of my comfort zone," Traci said.

The couple was one of six baking teams from across the United States to compete for the $25,000 grand prize and the title of Wedding Cake Champions. Traci told us, while they did have a blast, it was super challenging.

"Everybody we competed against were extremely talented bakers," Traci said.

The Rankins are no strangers to a little competition. They were also contestants on the show, "Sugar Showdown" on the Cooking Channel in 2016. Traci said it is exciting to represent the baking community in Greensboro.

Talent is only part of their success, Traci said they have been together for eight years and their love is unconditional.

"He is my best friend, so we love being together. I could not do any of this without him," Traci said.

Two seasons of the Wedding Cake Championship are now airing on Food Network. The winner is yet to be determined.
