The Winston-Salem City Council approved $9 million of funds to renovate the property.
Assistant City Manager Ben Rowe says there's a variety of projects like "replacing the restroom facilities. Replacing the concession stands. Improving the football field, the track, the press boxes."
The work is expected to be complete by the end of 2022. The reason it will take three years is because of the stadium's busy schedule.
"We have racing season and football season that runs basically from April through October, and so our windows to really do significant construction would be from November until March," Rowe said.
Now that the funds are approved, the city will look to hire an architect and nail down the final designs. Once that is approved they'll move onto the construction stage.
