GREESBORO, N.C.-- Guilford County Commissioners unanimously approved plans to sell $40 million in bonds on Thursday. The money will go towards three new public buildings and increased security for Guilford County Schools.
- The $40 million approved by Guilford County Commissioners will fund public buildings and school security.
- The money from the two-thirds bond issuance will relocate the animal shelter, build a new law enforcement center and improve safety at Guilford County Schools.
- The commissioners gave the public plenty of time to speak at the meeting Thursday, but no one spoke in favor or against any part of the two-thirds bond.
Spectrum News asked Chairman Alan Branson if it will affect our taxes.
"With growth, both corporate and the two-percent roughly that we have with our citizens coming to the area, we're going to be able to hold the line as far as a tax rate without having an increase is my goal,” Branson answered.
A two-thirds bond issuance does not require a public vote. Commissioners approved all measures by a seven to zero vote.
