GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Bennett College will keep its accreditation after filing a lawsuit against The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
- The college in Greensboro lost its accreditation in December over financial issues
- Since then, the college launched a campaign and raised $9.5 million
- Despite those efforts, the appeals board said the school “failed to show that the institution possesses resources demonstrating a stable financial base”
When the school lost its accreditation in December over financial issues, it launched a campaign to raise $5 million in conjunction with its appeal. It ended up raising $9.5 million.

The appeals board says the school “failed to show that the institution possesses resources demonstrating a stable financial base.”
The school later filed a lawsuit against the SACSOC and it will remain accredited during the court proceedings. Officials moved for a temporary restraining order to prevent the school's accreditation from being revoked.
