YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. -- A new arrest has been made in the death of Trooper Samuel Bullard.

Christopher Whitt, 45, has been charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

Whitt's son, Daktota Whitt, is charged with murder, felony fleeing to elude arrest and driving with a revoked license, all from the wreck that killed the 24-year-old Highway Patrolman.

Whitt Sr. is scheduled to be in court next week, but Dakota and the two other women charged in this case are expected in court Wednesday.

Bullard died in May when authorites say Dakota fled a checkpoint in Surry County and led two troopers on a chase on I-77 that ultimately ended in Bullard's death.
