WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools' loss is the state's gain.

District Superintendent Dr. Beverly Emory announced her resignation Friday so she can take a new position as the director of district and regional support for the Department of Public Instruction.

 

 

Dr. Emory has been a superintendent for 25 years in North Carolina and Ohio, the last six with Winston-Salem Forsyth County.

She began her career as a middle school math and science teacher in the North Carolina mountains.
