Not much going on in regards to our weekend weather which is a good news for fans of dry, sunny weather. High pressure will stretch across the Carolinas today and tomorrow ensuring fair and dry conditions. A few clouds may come in to play late Sunday due to an offshore area of low pressure. But any rainfall will be reserved for coastal areas.
Temperatures will be seasonable during this time. So after cold mornings in the 20s and 30s, expect afternoons in the upper 40s to mid 50s Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Dry weather will last through Tuesday morning before a cold front sweeps across the region ushering another dramatic drop in temperatures by mid-week.
This cold front is our main forecast regarding our extended forecast due to the possible wintry weather threat it may have. This front will have enough moisture available to produce precipitation and arctic air slamming the back-end of the system.
Based off the latest data snow is a possibility Tuesday night into Wednesday morning for much of North Carolina. But it's still far too early to nail down specifics regarding timing and accumulation. We're still analyzing the general setup of this system before we take the next step of identifying specific impacts and timing. So as always there's no need to panic, just remained informed. Over the next few days as new data becomes available we'll be able to tweak the forecast as needed and share our thoughts in terms of direct impacts. Until this enjoy a sunny start to our weekend!
