NORTH CAROLINA -- A great first half of the workweek is expected as high pressure builds and dominates the eastern half of the nation.

  • Highs today will be average or slightly above average for much of the area
  • This next round of rain will likely begin Thursday and last through the day Friday
  • Conditions will dry up Friday night making way for a dry and sunny weekend

After a weak disturbance moves through this morning, expect a cloud free setting through the afternoon. Highs today will be average or slightly above average for much of the area.

The Triad will likely feature highs in the mid to upper 50s, while the Triangle and Sandhills will be near 60 degrees. The mid 50s are the normal high for most areas this time of year.

High pressure will remain in the area through early Wednesday. Through the day Wednesday it will move offshore to our southeast and help kick start a warm, moist southerly wind flow.

As moisture flows into the region, clouds will build in overhead late Wednesday ahead of our next storm system. This next round of rain will likely begin Thursday and last through the day Friday.

Rainfall expectations range from a quarter to a full inch of rainfall over the two-day span. The good news is conditions will dry up Friday night making way for a dry and sunny weekend.
