Skies continue to gradually clear as weak high pressure rests over the region. By mid-afternoon many will enjoy a bright afternoon as skies feature a nice sharing of sun and clouds. Highs today will be near average in the Triad, reaching the mid-50s. The Sandhills and the Triangle will be slightly warmer, with highs near 60 degrees.

Clouds will grow back into the area tonight ahead of our next storm system. A cold front will sweep across the region Monday, likely producing a few showers through the first half of the day. Based off the latest information, light to moderate showers will be possible until lunchtime (noon). After that, the front will be to our east and much cooler, drier air will flow in quickly behind the front.

Prepare for a noticeable temperature drop through the week. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s for many Monday. But behind the front we'll dip below average each day. Instead of highs near 60 degrees, we'll have highs near 50 Tuesday and in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday. Lows during this time will likely be near or slightly below freezing in the upper 20s to low 30s.
