NORTH CAROLINA -- Due to weather, parts of several interstates and highways are closed. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, travel is hazardous on all roads south of U.S. 64 and east of I-73/74 and motorists should not drive in these areas.

Various parts of I-95 and I-40 are closed. There several primary roads that are also closed due to Florence, according to NCDOT.

NCDOT officials are not recommending using GPS devices when traveling in effected areas, as they cannot anticipate closures and sudden changes in conditions.

 

 

 U.S. 70 in Garner

 

Due to the traffic light outage at U.S. 70 and White Oak/Jones Sausage Roads, White Oak Road has been closed northbound between Timber Drive and U.S. 70, and Jones Sausage Road has been closed southbound between Cabela Drive and U.S. 70. In addition, there will be no left turns from U.S. 70 onto Jones Sausage Road or White Oak Road.

I-95, especially Fayetteville to Rocky Mount

All lanes on Interstate 95 are closed near exit 71, the Long Branch Road exit, due to flooding. They say it is expected to reopen Monday at 8:30 a.m. 

  • Road washout at Bartons Landing / Cliffdale Rd.
  • Flooding in the area of 1601 Purdue Dr.
  • Flooding in the area of Cedar Creek Rd. and LA Dunham Rd.
  • Flooding in the area of Cedar Creek Rd. and LA Dunham Rd.
  • High water at Raeford Rd. / Rim Rd.
  • Flooding in the area of Coldwater Rd./Carriage Rd.
  • Through traffic from I-95 in Georgia is advised to use I-16 West to I-75 North to I-81 North to I-64 East back to I-95 in Virginia.

I-95 South Johnston County

Lanes closed in Johnston County near Kenly at Exit 105 (Bagley Rd) due to a traffic incident. Expected to reopen Saturday at 7:52 p.m. Motorists must take Exit 107 (US-301) to US-301 South. Follow US-301 South to Bagley Rd. Take a left onto Bagley Rd and continue to re-access I-95.

If you are already in North Carolina on I-95 you may use US 64 west to I-540 west to I-40 west to I-85 south into South Carolina.
Follow South Carolina DOT instructions to return to I-95.

I-40 North East and West near Wilmington

Lanes are closed in both directions between exit 364 and exit 369 near Warsaw due to flooding. Officials say they plan to reopen the the lanes Monday at 8:30 a.m.
