GREENSBORO, N.C. -- FedEx is set to expand operations at its Greensboro hub on Tuesday.
- FedEx to expand its Greensboro hub
- That means about 400 new jobs for the Triad
- FedEx will be adding eight flights per day
The company is adding eight new flights per day and hiring hundreds of new employees.
This means about 400 new jobs for the Triad, and positions range from entry level to senior managers.
Officials say they have already filled a couple hundred of the positions since they made the job announcement in August, but there are still plenty available.
FedEx will be adding eight flights per day, Monday through Thursday, which is about doubling their operation because they currently have 10 flights per day.
Airport officials say they're lucky to have a company like FedEx expanding in the area, and it is an important employer for the Triad.
"One of the airport's two missions is to be a center of employment for our region and any company adding 400 jobs in our region is huge news. And obviously we love the companies we have here first, then we want to go find some new ones as well but the fact that we're seeing expansion in an existing industry is just tremendous," said Kevin Baker, executive director, Piedmont Triad Airport Authority.
