NORTH CAROLINA -- Thomasville police are investigating after an incident involving a pedestrian on a bike found dead.

  • Highway Patrol says a passerby spotted the body of a man around 7:15 a.m.
  • Neighbors said there have been at least two wrecks on that specific area of the road.
  • Officers say that the car left the scene of the accident and they still have no vehicle description.

The body was found in the roadway on Mount Zion Baptist Church Road and Denton Road.

Highway Patrol says a passerby spotted the body of a man around 7:15 a.m.

Once on the scene, officers found the body along with some debris, indicating that he had been hit by a car.

Officers say that the car left the scene of the accident and they still have no vehicle description.

Neighbors said there have been at least two wrecks on that specific area of the road.

There is an elementary school less than a mile from where the hit and run took place.

This is still an active investigation with more information to come.

 

 There is no word yet on the victim's ID or if anyone is facing any charges.
